Friendly Fire Recordings 2011 sampler

When Wednesday moseys on around, it's always nice to get over the middle of the week with a set of new tunes.  Thanks to Amazon.com and the site's insane selection of free MP3 downloads, I was able to scour the goods select a free label sampler for our readers.  Enjoy the Friendly Fire Recording 2011 spring sampler, which was released at the beginning of the month.  Full of The Phenomenal Handclap Band, The Concretes, and a personal favorite, Violens, it is sure to please!

believe me, everything is brilliant

After watching Manchester Orchestra's video for their new single 'Simple Math' I can only think of one word to describe it: beautiful. I really don't want to say anything else about it because I just want you to simply enjoy it.

Of course, Andy Hull's amazing, God-given voice and talent for writing mind-blowing lyrics helps make the music video great, but it's really the director's talent that makes the video as wonderful as it is. The director is actually two directors named Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert that simply go by the name Daniels.
Check out their blog here. I'll have more to say about them later, but for now, just enjoy the beauty that is Simple Math.

Daily style- April 26

Organic cotton cream v-neck- Threads for Thought, tie-waist skirt- Old Navy, tan Grecian sandals, messenger tote, owl ring- Forever 21, charm necklace, Forever 21.

Tuesdays are always my busy day on campus, and a simple tee paired with a voluminous skirt and the right accessories works seamlessly from the classroom, to a job fair, to dinner with friends.  For the most comfortable t's you will ever own, check out Threads For Thought.  Made out of 100% organic cotton, these v-necks are my absolute favorite.  Whenever I find a retailer that carries the brand, I stock up- big time.  My favorite costume jewelry piece, the owl ring, was a definite steal from Forever 21 last summer- only $1!

Blogger Bios

Hi, I'm Lindsay!
I am a current sophomore at Georgia College & State University majoring in Mass Communication with a concentration in Print Journalism.  From a young age I was sure that a career in writing was my calling, and I am pursuing my future career goals wholeheartedly.  Aside from The Plastics, I also run my personal blog, Lindsay Out Loud.  I have written for my college newspaper, The Colonnade, and have held past writing internships with online publications Vode Vintage and The Pink and Black. I hope to pursue a career in fashion journalism after graduating in 2013.

                                                                                                  I'm Anna. I'm really cool.
My writing career started at the age of 6 when I wrote a book about a dog crashing a cat party. It's going to be a big hit one day so you'll want to watch out for that.  Today, I'm a junior at Georgia College majoring in the best thing ever: Mass Communication! I work as the Leisure Editor and Assistant Photo Editor for our school's newspaper, The Colonnade. Aside from that I also tutor and pretend to make wonderful pottery for my ceramics class. I normally just produce bowls that I like to call abstract even though they're really just mess ups. I hate twitter and I have an unhealthy obsession with dresses and the show Dexter. When I get older I'm going to live in SoHo and write for Nylon. I won't accept anything other than this lifestyle. I try to be good to mother nature. It's just something that I'm into. I have a tumblr all about being environmentally friendly: the flowers and the trees. Follow me! I'll make you cookies if you do.

"Normal Gets You Nowhere," says PR queen Kelly Cutrone

If you have ever watched MTV's "The Hills" or "The City," chances are you've witnessed the PR megafirm People's Revolution, owned by Kelly Cutrone.  I have always admired Cutrone's work ethic and seemingly cutthroat standards in the realm of fashion PR and branding, so I am more than excited to hear about Cutrone's new book, "Normal Gets You Nowhere," hitting book stores on May 3!  Watch below to hear Cutrone's quick take on her newest book:

Balenciaga "Lariat", the new "Birkin"?

When Balenciaga's motorcycle-inspired "Lariat" bag hit the L.A scene in summer of 2005, it was hard to see any celebrity without one casually slung over her forearm.  Although nearly 6 years have passed since the Lariat's debut, it is not uncommon to still spot the bag in the likes of Vogue and InStyle in interesting new colors.  Hermes' iconic "Birkin" bag has long-held the title of "most coveted," but will it have to share the limelight with the Lariat as a "classic" in the near future? Only time will tell.
Personally, I love the edgy feel of my Lariat-style bag (it is an imitation, of course, but an excellent one I might add!). Pairing it with a plain tank top and jeans adds new dimension to an otherwise "blah" ensemble.  I suppose I am a sucker for a bag with studded hardware and straps!

All the bows and whistles

Bows accenting anything, whether it be a ring, shorts, or flats, have been majorly appealing lately.  I don't exactly know why, but the little, dainty accents on apparel give off an effortlessly feminine air that I cannot get enough of.  Check out the adorable picks below:

i can dream, right?

I found this on a site called bookshelfporn.com. It consists of an endless amount of pictures of bookshelves. Yes, I am a dork.

my new mantra

How great is this? I found it here at pinterest.com. I'm not quite sure what this website's all about, but it seems cool so I'm going to procrastinate and endlessly search the site to find out what's going on.
